Environmentally Friendly Studio Start Up

Hey guys,
So I'm looking to plan out a studio build up here in Canada. I've been looking at an old church in Port Stanley, Ontario on the shores of Lake Eerie. One of the things that I've been really interested in thanks to Brushfire Records/Jack Johnson is creating a studio thats environmentally friendly.

I know Jack's studios are run on solar power, but, Im wondering if anyone out there would have any tips/advice on some equipment that might use less power, lighting/appliances, etc.

Perhaps this thread could become a guide for future start ups if we can pool all the resources together.

I'll keep everyone posted on my ideas/findings.

Will

For starters I would consider the reality that fluorescent lighting will be the only standard lighting in the near future. There are also many LED options today, check out Lumileds.

Also buildings that are designed with climate considerations have much lower heating/cooling costs.

Cheers,
John
