REALLY Asymmetrical room.. Looking for starting points

Some of you may know that my studio flooded and so I've reconsidered my studio being in the garage (no A/C..)

So, now i'm looking to move it into the fairly small 2 bedroom apartment. I can basically put The desk anywhere in the following image, here's the blueprint:

I'd probably put the control room in the study, with the speakers at the top pointing down so the opening is in the rear left when you're seated.

Thanks Ethan!

I always thought that would be the absolute worst place for things given how small and cube like that room is.

What are the reasons you suggested that room?

Knowing what I do from all of your posts and our phone discussion when I was buying RealTraps, I would have thought the southmost wall in the nook would be the best place, since that would give the speakers the furthest distance to fire before hitting a wall (where the stairs are). It also allows me to have each speaker right in front of a window (I'm assuming that I can put some traps right behind it to catch the HF reflections from that window, but the bass would pass right through the glass and into thin air.

I'm on the second story, in a rural area, so that bass would not have anything to reflect back to me from.

Would you advise against the nook area because of the lack of symmetry?

Do you consider Symmetry to be more important than a good frequency response?

THANKS ETHAN!
BTW - I watched your Audio Myths video recently and loved it, I sent it to everyone I know =)

Mainly because it's symmetrical. You could have the speakers by the fireplace, and that might be okay. Questions like this are very difficult for a stranger to answer without seeing the place in person!

No, because symmetry can be forced by placing absorbers. So length and bass response should trump all. BUT...

The study has a huge opening in the rear, so that helps "vent" the bass.

Great, thanks!
