That's typical for a small untreated room. The solution is bass traps, though I bet you already know that. Heh

Yeah, I knew bass traps is the way to go. This is my first touch to acoustics so I'm quite open to ideas..

My budjet at the moment is more than tight, so commercial bass traps are out of the question (some day..).

What's the best DIY way to make bass traps? Links?

How I built my bass traps...

Recommended design

One of the best performers and also one of the easiest to do and best looking. They take a lot of fibre but the low density fibres, 703 or even lighter, say 2pcf or 32KG Cubic Metre, actually work best in this design and are cheap. Even the fluffy stuff will work quite will but will make life difficult in terms of containing it. Clever design. Ok, here's my shot (photos), took 3 hours to make 4 traps. Easy with decoration, though..

Acoustic noob workshop

Still need to remove the shelf and sink around monitors etc, but hopefully I'm on the wagon.. I'm making about three more traps next week, for ceiling and for the wall behind monitors (after I've removed the shelf).

Doing the right thing or not? Hints?

Very nice man.

You could also cut some holes to the frame.

Damn, wish I'd known that before. In real life, how much it makes a difference?

Nicely done. Would like to see you straddle some corners though. That is where the low end builds up the most.

Thanks guys!

Ok, I did some measurements with Room EQ Wizard and Audix measurement mic, as close as I could according to REW guide.

I made two runs:

First run with REW and I wondered how to make it even better. Traps behind monitors were attached to wall and there was no space behind them. So I made took those off of the wall a bit. Naturally second run with the "modification". I'd say there is a difference?

Here we go (sorry for stupid zooms, should've made'em more precise)

Orig filter adjust
Second run

Orig waterfall
Second run

Orig TR60
Second run

Filter adjust-tab and waterfall, those I understand, but what does that TR60 mean?

I run out of material, corners will be the next mission almost impossible..

Some additional little traps on top corners. I'm settled right now with my setup, listening position sounds really good now!
