Thread Starter | Hi guys, I'm building a small studio which will be used strictly for beatmaking and mixing instrumentals. I've made some SketchUp images for you to see what I was thinking about. Length: 3.00m Width: 2.20m Height: 2.12m 4x Bass traps 3x Absorb Panels 1. Do you think that this setup will make a good improvement in my room acoustics? 2. Will it be enough to make good mixes? 3.Would you add or remove any acoustic elements? 4. What should I do with the glass door behind me? Diffusor? 5. Any ceiling solutions? I can't drill holes into the ceiling to mount clouds, but is there an alternative? Foam? Thank you very much! |

2.Yes (but you´ll propbably need more panels - and nothing less than 4" (plus gap)). 3.add... 4.something like a gobo(moveable panel) in the center of rear wall will helps a lot.Basically you need thick absorption in a big area of the rear wall to deal with the strong nulls (absorption, not diffusion for a room that size is a common opinion).6" panels are the way. Probably in the end (after measurements*,which will helpls A LOT) you´ll need more corner traps (ex:wall/floor coners) and /or panels spread in other places...experiment, and measure each "repositioning" of traps).Remembering, are 12 corners in your room. 5.I think a cloud is a must in a small room;your ceiling is low and dimension is almost the same of width, what is bad (issues around 150hz to say the least). + a cloud ever improve the stereo image. I don´t have experience with foam."If" in the end you feel is the only solution for you, make sure it´s thick and dense enough (the issues I talked about are most below 200hz, "where" thin foam will do nothing). *Important: a software for measure the room response and RT60, like Room EQ Wizard (free), will helps a lot to find the ideal position engineer/speakers (I can´t live without it now...) ![]() My humble advices, hope it helps a bit. Good luck Ciro | |

| Maybe something like this for a cloud? You don't have to attach it to either wall nor ceiling. You could make some lights in the ceiling and also (partly) fill the side walls.... Just a thought;-) Merry X-mas, Phybeau |
