| Gear nut | control room issue In my control room I am not hearing any low end from where I am sitting. I've tried moving my monitors around but that doesn't seem to help. When I move back about 2 feet back I hear everything perfectly clear. I have a 2x4 hanging sheet of 703 over my monitoring position and I have 2 2x4 sheets (put together to be 4 inches thick) of 703 in the corner behind me acting as my bass trap. I also have about 4 (2 inch) sheets of rock wool hanging on the walls behind and around my monitors. I am not in a square room, but there is a corner right behind me. Im assuming more proper treatment would help me. But Im kind of stuck. Any thoughts? |

| Could you post a plan of your room with dimensions (including the ceiling) and your seating position ? Why not just sit two feet back if things sound good there ? Paul P |

| Agreed. At least try it to help to identify if the bass issue is related to length, width, or something else. Bryan

| There really are 2 ways you can attack this - If moving back 2 feet puts you in the sweet spot - why don't you just move back 2 feet ? But - before you do that - how are you certain that when backing up 2' really gives you the true bass levels coming out of the speakers in your mix? If this is just a listening spae - who cares? If it sounds good it sounds good - BUT - if it is a mixing space - then you need to make sure it represents your true sound levels - otherwise your mix might well end up with very low bottom end (if you happen to be sitting in a peak) So again - I ask you - how are you actually testing the space? The 2nd possibile attack is to leave things where they are now and fix the room (if it's large enough to be possible) to make it right - but then we are back to needing a lot more information before being able to give you any reasonable advice.
