Thread Starter | HELP! need to submit these plans to the builder ASAP! plans inside!
so my Wife and I are building our fist home and a functional studio is a MUST as it is what i do for a living. i will warn you that i have MINIMAL knowledge in acoustics and what ive drawn up seems to be the best use of space. im looking to Gearslutz because... 1) as stated before, im pretty ignorant on studio design and im hoping to get some input from people that know what theyre talking about on what ive come up with. 2) i have NO help on this at all. our home builder is just that. a HOME builder. its basically up to me to tell them what to do. heres a few notes on the build... MUST HAVES - control room, live room and a bathroom that is accessible from both the living space (to the left of the plans) and the studio. im trying to make the live room as big as possible while still jamming a bathroom in there too. they layout is a 1 car garage (live room) with a bonus family room (control room) attatched to the back with 10ft ceilings throughout. i want to keep the control room as open as possible, so i pretty much left that alone. i designed the live room thinking we could kinda' "bend" the room to reduce standing waves and rid the room of most 90 degree angles. once again, this is just a theory of mine and this is where i need a pro to tell me if this is a good or bad idea! i think thats where the bathroom is going. it took up way to much space in the control room. i dont have exact measurements yet because this is just the sketch im planning on submitting to them. but the entire space is about 12'x35'. so there you have it. if anyone has some suggestions on acoustics, wall placement and use of space/square footage please post away! |

Pay a pro for some advice. If it's what you do for a living, that would seem like the sensible thing to do.

There are about a million ways to go wrong building a specialty space like a studio; there's a great deal of detail to cover to make sure that all the "i"'s are dotted and "t"'s crossed. Seriously, you want to hire some professional design help on this one. Where in the country are you located? Frank
