Thread Starter | unfinished basement ceiling I have an unfinished basement ceiling I've included pics of the setup. My ceiling is about 7 feet high and I want to know the most DIY economical way to treat the whole basement. |

| You could do it a couple different ways, which both will work well. 1)Hang panels made from rigid fiberglass or mineral wool (2" to 4" panels) or 2)Stuff the rafters with fiberglass and cover it with fabric.

| Gear nut | I did something similar. I used fiberglass between the joists and built fabric covered clouds instead of covering the entire ceiling with fabric. |

| Gear nut | I was under the impression the OP was looking to treat the sound in the room rather than isolate the sound. |

Thread Starter | Could I use Rockwool Groban Cubes for the panels? Or would too much bass pass through them? I've found the Cube sheets really cheap through hydroponics stores. |

| Lives for gear | Haha! Very good. Hmmm looks like it could be fun. Get it in the sheets and don't let it break into cubes. It could work very well. BTW, when you mount it, place the cut cubes against the wall or ceiling with the flat panel part facing the room - you well get better absorption figures. (it's the added air space) ![]() |
