Arrow HELP: Recording with a noisy Laptop

I'd like to start recording stuff in my room but my laptop fan is really loud. I was thinking of getting a second monitor and putting the laptop inside a suitcase with the cables coming out from holes in the material ( I have 8 cables contented to the computer) . What sort of solution would you recommend instead?

Thanks,

Maria

I had the same problem with MacBookPro "17.

Laptop should have air, so better isolate the mic and the place where the mic stand is, instead of silencing the laptop with boxes, blankets and whatever there is.

Main thing:
if you use LDC condenser mic, you most probably WILL hear the noise.
If you have a SDC, then perhaps only some hissing will be audible.
Best if you used a dynamic or ribbon mic, then you'll probably hear no noise.

A second monitor (I have a 24" and planning to get 30") is a must-have, I can't imagine working on complicated sessions with only laptop's screen.

Best!

Get the computer right out of the room. Extensions for monitor, keyboard, and mouse were the best sound treatment I've got. Less than $100.

Thanks for the advice
My room is very small and I am not able to put my computer outside the room. I think the ideal thing would be a box, case, fish tank or something of that sort

the problem with putting the laptop in a box or something is airflow. you don't want it to overheat in the middle of a session...
