Garage Conversion, need advice.

Currently I run a small home studio where I record demos and singles for a lot of really young bands for a low price.

I have enough traffic to pay for my mortgage and bills and eating but not a lot more than that lol. (yes, this is my full time job).

I have been tracking drums in my living room with minimal diffusion and been getting a decent result. However, I have a garage that is completely empty that I do not use for anything and would prefer to have a living room again and just do drum tracking in my garage.

As mentioned, I don't have the largest budget but can squeeze money here and there to make this work over an extended amount of time doing little by little.

I have been tracking drums in my home now for a year and a half and my neighbors say that they can hear it, but that it doesn't bother them any. Granted, this is INSIDE my home. Moving into the garage would be a different issue because there is a lot of openings threw the garage door for sound to get out.

My original plan was to use some fiber glass insulation, sound board, ply wood, sheetblok and a few layers of sheet rock to build a wall thick enough to kill enough sound from leaving my garage.

I want to lay wood floors down as well. On top of that I really don't know where to go...

Hence, I need you guys to steer me in the right direction.

The room is a perfect square at the moment.
20 ft X 19.5 ft and 8.5 feet tall.

Other than what i've mentioned...What do I need to do to get some good sounding drums out of this room!

If you can squeeze more height out of your garage box you'll be well served. I'm considering converting mine and it's got a peaked roof so the middle goes up to around 14 feet and I plan to use all of that I can. The problem for me is making it structurally sound enough to hold the mass I'll need to keep the sound in.

I'd love to if I could however in these new homes they wire all the tubes for the water etc threw the ceiling now instead of underground, so tearing up my ceiling is not an option.

I know i'll need shit loads of diffusion and of course bass traps in all 4 corners...I just want to know what kind of diffusion i should be using and where would be the best place for it in my box. lol
