Need advice on room treatment (tricky v-shaped ceiling)

Hi

My band just moved to a new practice and recording area. We are going to record our second album there. There is a lot of echo in the room. It´s not that bad after we moved all the gear in and put a carpet under the drums but the red carpet didnt do much. We were thinking about building panels that would be at the same place as the red carpet and also some for the drums.

What is the best way to stop the echo?

How do I make this a decent place to record and mix?

Where do I find the schematics for basstraps, panels and so on. (I have loads of stonewool)?

The corner with the red chairs will be my working space (control room). What is my best option for treatment there? And for the drums also (i was thinking about covering the back walls (drums) with the red carpet?

All of your help would be greatly appreciated
Here are some pics (:

My standard blurb will get you 99 percent of the way there. All rooms need:

* Broadband (not tuned) bass traps straddling as many corners as you can manage, including the wall-ceiling corners. More bass traps on the rear wall behind helps even further. You simply cannot have too much bass trapping. Real bass trapping, that is - thin foam and thin fiberglass don't work to a low enough frequency.

* Mid/high frequency absorption at the first reflection points on the side walls and ceiling.

* Some additional amount of mid/high absorption and/or diffusion on any large areas of bare parallel surfaces, such as opposing walls or the ceiling if the floor is reflective. Diffusion on the rear wall behind you is also useful in larger rooms.

For the complete story see my Acoustics FAQ.

There's a lot of additional non-sales technical information on my company's web site - articles, videos, test tones and other downloads, and much more.

For peaked ceilings I suggest absorbers directly under the peak, as shown in the photo below.

Im gonna start making bass traps and some panels. A doorsize wooden frame with steelwool and carpet around it. Then I´ll make gobotraps (to replace the red carpet in the room).

Is it better to have the drum set in the middle of the room or just where it´s at?

Where can I get info on doing this the cheapest way?

Thanks

You'll have to experiment a bit to find out.
