Thread Starter | small home dance music studio build. accoustic foam placement... check photos
hey guys, just purchased some auralex pyramid foam for my new bedroom studio build. im not sure if i have placed them in a position to do any significant improvement to sound quality. my studio desk is in the corner of my room with the monitors not far off the wall. they are both positioned inwards and the right monitor directly misses the foam behind it. should i purchase more foam to put behind it? the sounds before the foam was pretty good and not much difference with the foam. having said that iam new to production and am still getting used to my studio/monitor/ sounds... PLEASE CHECK ATTATCHED PHOTOS.... any advice is appreciated. thanks |

The foam would do OK for side wall reflections. Pull it to about half way between you and the monitors on the side walls. It's not going to do anything for bass in the corners and very little behind the monitors for SBIR. Bryan

Also treat the ceiling first reflection points. The idea here is to create a Reflection-Free Zone.

Your positioning looks a bit funky as well. You should be centered between the right and left walls, with your head about 38% of the way into the room. Your head should also be at the apex of an equilateral triangle with the monitors at opposing corners. Then deploy the foam as the other guys suggested. Frank
