Thread Starter | Question on Insulation in Double Wall!
I am building a double wall with steel studs. I will be using two layers of 5/8" drywall on each outer face. I am unsure of what type of insulation to use as well as how to connect it to the walls since I can't staple it in like wood studs. Also does it matter if the insulation is the kind that's wrapped in plastic, because I want to avoid it getting in the air as much as possible. I have searched the forums and just can't find an answer. I would appreciate if someone could give me some advice. Thanks

Hi Mordent You can use normal fluffy insulation, since it is made for this purpose. The size of insulaion is made for using in steelstud construction, and you can sqeeze it between the studs easy. You don`t need plastic for covering it, since it is in the walls, which have to be airtight. When you put the insulation in walls to the outside may you need some plastic on the warm side to avoid mud between the walls, but that is another thing. cheers Mika |

Use an acoustical sealent on the walls, problem solved OR there are other products that replace rockwool but much more expensive
