Rigid/water proof material to cover bass traps?

I'm going to be building a bunch of floor/wall corner bass traps. I'm thinking of making them in a rectangular prism type shape 16"x16"x4'. That way I can use them as tables to put stuff on (space is limited). I wouldn't want to use fabric because it's not strong enough to have things on top of it (like drinks) and it's also not water proof (people like to spill drinks I've noticed). Since it's just for bass trapping I'd like something that would reflect highs and let the low frequencies pass through it. So maybe I could use some kind of corrugated plastic cardboard? Or would some thin type of plywood work?

Maybe waterproof canvas? Anything much thicker than that will block sound from getting to the absorbing material inside.

Don't you use something rigid on those diffuser/bass trap combo things?

Yes, but those are diffusors as well as bass traps.

You can put drinks or whatever on our Tri Traps. You can definitely build them so that they work the way you're suggesting you'd like them to work.
