Im very curious as to the 1/1.9 ratio discussed here. This puts these two dimensions at being very close to divisable to each other, as well as divisable by 2,4 etc. I thought this was a big no no in design? Seeing it comes from Wes, it has me rethinking everything in my early design stage. Especially that I will be soffit mounting and I can actually do 1/1.9 but if I hadn't of read this I wouldn't have gone near that ratio. Ahhhhhh, acoustics. Help?
I assume you're thinking that 1.9 is too close to 2.0, but this isn't really the case. The ratio of 1.9 : 2 is a half step musically speaking (actally it's 1.89, but the rounding is within the range of normal "micro-tuning"). For example, the ratio of 1.6 : 1 is very good, although 1.5 : 1 is bad (minor 6th good, perfect 5th bad). Same with 1.4 : 1 - the diminished 5th is a good ratio even though it's just a half step away from a bad ratio (perfect 5th).

I'm rounding these numbers just a bit for clarity's sake.
