Thread Starter | Finnaly. Pictures of my Live room and ctrl room, a little help needed. Hey guys. Finnaly I got my ass downstairs took some pictures with my cellphone. Usable. I think you'll get which photo belongs to which room. Allright, here we go. First one is a overlook of the two rooms. 2. Front wall. 3. Crappy photo of the drums in the back of the room. 4. Another one of the drums in the back. 5. The Ctrl room Pic 1 5.1 The Ctrl room Pic 2 5.2 The Ctrl room Pic 3 5.3 The Ctrl room Pic 4 6. Planning building a really small booth for the drums due to the noise their making. Having trouble with drum noise leaking into the ctrl room, making it almost impossible to hear whats going on.. The red line shows where the wall is planned to be. 7. Same as 6, only this time in overview. 8. Left side of room 8.1 Left side/left back of the room So... The carpets you see, they were a haste solution, beeing taken down when my traps are finished. Do you think the drum booth idea, is a good or a bad idea? I want to keep the drums volume down, and this was my only solution. Due to budget which is about 300 dollars. It's very! very thin novadays. The other one is the ctrl room. My computer is sent in for repairs. So don't panic! :p Any solutions due to treatment etc? Thanks.. ![]()

| All my usual advice applies. All rooms need: * Broadband (not tuned) bass traps straddling as many corners as you can manage, including the wall-ceiling corners. More bass traps on the rear wall behind helps even further. You simply cannot have too much bass trapping. Real bass trapping, that is - thin foam and thin fiberglass don't work to a low enough frequency. * Mid/high frequency absorption at the first reflection points on the side walls and ceiling. * Some additional amount of mid/high absorption and/or diffusion on any large areas of bare parallel surfaces, such as opposing walls or the ceiling if the floor is reflective. Diffusion on the rear wall behind you is also useful in larger rooms. For the complete story see my Acoustics FAQ. There's a lot of additional non-sales technical information on my company's web site - articles, videos, test tones and other downloads, and much more. --Ethan

Thread Starter | Any comment on the drum booth? And I read your article Ethan, your saying "The bass traps I have found most effective are built from plywood panels, and designed to vibrate over a broad range of bass frequencies. Fiberglass is mounted behind the panels to damp the vibration, thus absorbing the bass energy from the room." Is that correct that you can cover you basstrap with a plywood panel? |

| Well, a drum booth doesn't have reflection points as in a control room, but I see an awful lot of bare reflecting surface that needs to be covered. Quote:
"Please understand that the bass traps described in this article are intended mainly for larger rooms. For rooms smaller than 25 by 15 feet you'll usually do better with broadband bass traps made from thick rigid fiberglass placed in the room corners.--Ethan | |

Thread Starter | Ah, sorry Ethan, didn't see that while reading ![]() The only problem to the booth making, is mics. There will not be free room to place them and I might think it will be kind of boxy sounding. Any thoughts? And when we are practicing, we can't see each other if I make that booth.. I have a dilemma :p |

| I must have misunderstood. I thought you already have a booth where the drums are in the photo. In that case, it's better to have no booth. Small rooms sound terrible. --Ethan |

Thread Starter | Then I'll have to buy it from the USA, I'm located in Norway.. takes 2 weeks or so to get it :p Can someone give me 1 simple answer? Is rockwool dangeorus if you wrap it in thin plastic and there on in fabric? Due to dust in the air? or is it just hysterical to think that way? *I have posted a topic before, but it has so many comments and different opinions, so I don't know what to think? |
