Unhappy Help with my new studio layout. thanks!!!

Hello all!

I just moved into a new studio, and since its a bit bigger than my last room (and differently shaped) I would like to ask you guys to help me out a little.

The room looks like this:
It's fairly square room with the following dimensions: L5.6M x W3.69 x H2.2m.

I've already put in what i am planning to do. Superchunks in the back corners, plus a big basstrap across the backwall (20cm rockwool + airgap).

early reflection points on the front and sidewalls next to the desk and a cloud (early reflection).

Will this be good choices? and since I am afraid its not going to be enough basstrapps, where should i put more (and how much)?

here is some more info from bob gold's room mode calculator:

Computed Information:
Room Dimensions: Length=5.6 m, Width=3.68 m, Height=2.2 m
Room Ratio: 1 : 1.67 : 2.54
R. Walker BBC 1996:
- 1.1w / h < l / h < ((4.5w / h) - 4): Pass
- l < 3h & w < 3h: Pass
- no integer multiple within 5%: Pass
Nearest Known Ratio:
- "19) Origin unknown: equals ± 1:1.6:2.56" 1 : 1.6 : 2.56
RT60 (IEC/AEC N 12-A standard): 242 ms
- ±50ms from 200Hz to 3.5kHz = 192 to 292ms
- ±100ms above 3.5kHz = 142 to 342ms
- <+300ms at 63hz = 542ms
- 300<RT60<600ms
RT60 (ITU/EBU Control Room Recommended): 191 ms
- ±50ms from 200Hz to 4kHz = 141 to 241ms
- <+300ms at 63hz = 491ms
- 200<RT60<400ms
Absorbtion to achieve ITU RT60: 410 sabins
Volume: 45 m^3
Surface Area Total: 80 m^2
Surface Area Floor: 20 m^2
Surface Area Ceiling+Floor: 40 m^2
Surface Area Front Wall: 8 m^2
Surface Area Front and Rear Wall: 16 m^2
Surface Area Left Wall: 12 m^2
Surface Area Left and Right Wall: 24 m^2
Surface Area 4 Walls: 40 m^2
Surface Area 4 Walls + floor: 60 m^2
(sabins - front wall - carpet) / Left+Right+Rear wall: 31 %
(sabins - front wall) / Left+Right+Rear wall: 94 %
Schroeder Fc: 122hz
Frequency Regions:
- No modal boost: 1hz to 30hz
- Room Modes dominate: 30hz to 122hz
- Diffraction and Diffusion dominate: 122hz to 488hz
- Specular reflections and ray accoustics prevail: 488hz to 20000hz
Count (30.7-218hz) : Axials=13, Tangentials=50, Obliques=56
Count (30.7-100hz) : Axials=6, Tangentials=6, Obliques=1
Critical Distance (direct = reverberant field): 3.90m

If you guys need any more info, let me know...

I hope you can help me with this.

Ciao!

Lightbulb

Yes, your general plan sounds correct, and the layout looks good too.

Nothing to add BUT.

I like the way this is laid out. Even the person who does not understand room acoustics can understand it. thumbsup

Thanks for the quick answers guys!

Glad I am on the right track

Will basstrapping be enough? and isnt it a problem it's mostly in the back of the room?

Ciao!

You will want to also treat the early reflection points (see this article on the subject What Are Early Reflection Points. SPOTLIGHT:Bob Ebeling - Revolution Studio)

It is a problem EVERYWHERE in the room.
