Help with suitability of existing space.

Hi All

We have the option of getting a space that really suites our needs well in terms of location and size.

But, and its a major but, there are a few issues that I need to figure out first.

Current construction is all reinforced concrete. We can demolish walls etc to our liking (within reason for cost obviously) but we have concrete pillars (supports the building) that will interfere with room layout since we want/need a decent size (foley studio + sound editing).

If we choose to not have a floating floor (floating floors are pretty hard to make without any Lo freq resonance) what should or rather can be done with the pillars?

I will research if thee's an option to replace them with teel beams but that sounds like major € in my ears and thus prob not within our budget. Demolishing is cheap though...

Next issue. Existing walls. Should we bring them down and rebuild all studio walls from wood, or keep/rebuild w concrete? Pros/cons?
There are potential LF vibrations not to far away (big city).

Obviously we will consult a accoustical (and construction) engineer(s) eventually but this is just the first thoughts I had on the subject, and wanted some input.

In todays financial climate cost is indeed a big issue.
Also finding a building with a good location at the right price withing the city without support pillars seems totally impossible.

Thoughts and comments welcome.

Lightbulb

Your questions seem too vague, especially without being able to see the space in question. Can you post a few photos?
