Guitar Speaker Soundproofing

Hi All,
I own a small studio in NH and am looking to build a soundproof box where I will house a 12 Celestion speaker or Eminence not sure yet. I have a couple heads to use (which i will stack on top to swap between) but want to make this speaker be 100 percent or pretty close to sound proof. I plan on building a box inside a box with the speaker inside of that. I will also need access to swap out mics. I am very new at this (building)so any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Francisco

hey man, i just went through this, and while i'm happy with how my results turned out, i cant recommend enough that you just buy somebody else's (rivera, grendel, whatever) solution. a buddy of mine and i ended up with a 2'x'2'x4' plywood (in hindsight, i'd recommend MDF) box, lined with auralex sheetblock, then padded on the bottom with 4" of 703, and a variety of different fiberglass panels, foam and insulation all the way around, encompassing an avatar 1x12" speaker cab. then tiled the outside of the box with slate, put it on 4 rubber feet, which were then put on a 4x2 block of insul foam, which was then put on fiberglass risers (trying to decouple from the floor). it sounds absolutely amazing, but you still get bass leakage. and the thing is absolutely massive. it's become a piece of furniture. i'm not sure if the price vs. hassle/effectiveness is terribly worth it.

my 2 cents.
