Thread Starter | What glass to use?
I'm recunstructioning my speaker booth, basicly because I've noticed a leak at 200 Hz. Today the carpenter I've hired came back with the best window construction he could get. It's made from laminated glass and have a thickness of 5 cm. It's supposed to be soundproofed to 52 dB. At what frequency?, I asked. At 2000 Hz, he replied. How much will it block at 200 Hz?, was my next question. Oh, not much I'm afraid, he said... Do I need some kind of nuclear plant safety glass to get a silent box? How should the window between the control room and the box be constructed to block out plain human speach? |

You want mass equivalent to the wall leafs. If the leafs are drywall, approximately one third the thickness of the drywall. space the glass as far aprt as you can. Transparently, Andre
