Advice for room measuring needed.

Hi,

I'm going to measure a basement room that I'll use for some premixing in the future. as it's the bedroom of my GFs and my flat I won't expect it to be perfect after treating it but it would be good if I would be able to create a good listening spot in front of my nearfields as it would enable me to prepare projects at home for the mixing sessions, so it doesn't have to sound good everywhere in the room.

the room is about 6 x 5,5 x 2,8 meters, so it's not very small. from first listening I feel it doesn't have too much things going (flutter echo etc.) but for sure I'll need some good bass trapping.

A buddy will come over to help me measuring with his ECM 8000 mic using "just oct" and "Monacore" software. will that do the job properly?

Luckily I've never had to measure rooms before so I have got no experience in this field. what should take care of and
how many spots do I have to measure for my needs?

would be great to get some advice before I miss out on an important thing.

I'm going to post the results together with some pics of the room on the weekend.

thanks very much for your help!

Room EQ Wizard is all you need.

It's a free download.

thanks Weasel!

I've read a lot on yours and Ethan's page recently and wanna say there's so great and generous information given!
Came across the Room Wizard and would like to use it but my buddy said he prefers to use the software he's been used to...
I'll try to convince him.

how many spots should we measure at least apart from the listening position?
but I guess that's all depends on how the room is set up...

is the Behringer ok for this job?

Ehh...just worry about the mix position primarily, though it'll be helpful to measure other parts of the room, forward and back of the mix position to see if you should be moving forward or backward to best position yourself.

The Behringer mic is fine.

So we measured with the above setup.
there have been 3 drops of 15 dB between 30 and 150 Hz other than that it didn't look too bad.
unfortunately the graphs are on his laptop, I'll try to get hold of them again in order to show them.

somehow I didn't trust this measurement so I downloaded Room EQ Wizard but already when measuring the soundcard with it there ocurred the problem that it didn't show a graph afterwards.
the measuring process seemed to go fine, I adjusted the levels to fit the demands but it simply doesn't show a graph when it's finished... I went through all the panels... is there something I miss?
I'd like to measure again with Room EQ Wizard.
