| Quiet PC-Quiet PC Hardware-Quiet PC Components-Quiet PC Zalman Products You can replace the fans, add water cooling to the cpu gfx card and motherboard and add a couple of fans running at very low rpm for some air flow for your ram Look up silent pc or put it in a different room or a cabinet to dull the noise

| cheapest way is drill threw the wall place it in the near bye room ,run the essential cables (video,firewire\usb for audio interface) and seal the hole with caulk, you can use wireless keyboard and mouse. If that is not an option then I would look into building an iso box. |

| Great stuff here. Here's another thought. Zalman makes some good stuff, but why not snag a few Scythe Kama fans (which are among the quietest), replace the existing fans, then use something like a Scythe Ninja or passive Zalman CPU cooler to reduce noise. A bit of sound insuation and a Kaze Master to control the fans (so you can further reduce the RPM while recording tracks) should more than do the trick. If you can't get the computer outside of the room (which is my recommendation), then this would be a viable alternative. Fix the source of the noise first, it'll make getting a good recording easier in the long run. |

| Go into the BIOS and turn on those manual fan speed controls if you haven't already. I have an Asus P5K with a Q6600 cpu run at 3GHz, Arctic Cooling Freezer fan. I have my cpu fan set to the middle setting... i think it's called Optimal (not Silent Mode, and not Performance Mode). I also have my case fans set to either 70% or 80% and my computer is pretty silent. It's right in the room, and I can barely hear it at all. Also make sure you up the Target Temp up at high as it will go. This is the temp that determines when the Optimal fan setting kicks up a notch. I think the P5K maxes at like 40-something Celcius. If that doesn't work, the extension cable / wireless keyboard stuff is a great idea. Or stick it in a closet as long as it's not a real little tight closet, cause it still needs to breathe or you could overheat. |
