| Gear addict | Structural noise and soffits?
The studio I'm constructing in our new apartment home right now (using room within a room design) has a problem in design that I need to ask you guys about. There are lots of soffits in this room. See photos of it here: Beginning construction in China The 2nd leaf walls/ceiling will be made flush with the soffits, but it occured to me that even though I'll be adding anti-vibration pads to the 2nd leaves so that they are free from structural vibration noise, the soffit themselves are "exposed" to the room and are connected to the structure. What do I do about these soffits? Will adding anti-vibration padding between the 2nd leaf and the soffits be enough (the black thick line in the image), or if the soffits are exposed anyway, there's no point in trying to do any kind of anti-vibration for structural noise? |
