Polys are bent wood, but not really sure your room would be big enough for them.I would think a QRD is going to work out much better.

I agree with you (and I'm talking against myself since I sell QRDs!) but if he does not have much money then he can use polys.

It's from a BBC paper from.......1993 or 1996...It talks about problems related to having treated walls vs. a relatively untreated ceiling/floor combo. They describe the reverb as having a slight "honking". This problem is relevant to having any large mismatch in treated surfaces, but celing floor is a common one.
Is it the application of modern diffusers, paper 1990-15 ??

Yes it is. Thanks (P) Andre. The 17% numbers appears to come about from the second test, a field trial. 16 diffusers (all they had) put in the ceiling of 92 spaces. Hence the 17%. The general discussion on the problem starts on pdf page 7, and the testing on pdf page 13.

The BBC RD papers and related items like the Engineering Reports, which preceded the RD Reports, are a tremendous resource from an organization who's RD budget is the size of the budgets small countries, are amongst the best available for the subjects they cover. In addition most of them are free!

The RD Reports covering diffusers and the 2d diffuser patent US Patent 5,401,921, together with Cox and D'Antonio's text, form the core of my knowledge of diffusers.

Yeah I may look into making some QRD's via this thread: My home made diffuser. I'd love to support your companies just on principle since you guys have been such a help, but I'm afraid I can't afford it at the moment. Maybe next time :) So MDF is an acceptable material for this? I imagine the weight would add up if I hung too many of these and I'm not sure I'd want to add much more weight to my ceiling joists so I may look into that Gator board stuff. Is that an acceptable material? Just out of curiosity, what is the best material? Also, I was looking at this page : HiFi Speaker Design © mhSoft 2008 and the bandwidth is tighter than I expected. Is there a more efficient design or is this a typical QRD? Maybe only around 750 hz to around 3.7 khz needs to be diffused?

Also, total newbie question, but what exactly is a cloud? Is that just a panel over your mix position?

Did anyone notice if that BBC article mentioned the ceiling height?
