Constructing a vocal booth/iso room

Hey guys. A friend of mine and I were clearing out some extra space in our project studio in order to build a vocal booth that would double as a place to put loud guitar and bass amps during tracking. I was hoping some of you can help us out in the planning stage as we are very eager to get this project underway and finished within the next few weeks. As soon as we finish clearing out the space we have I will provide measurements and pictures, but in the meantime, are there any general considerations that can be offered up? For example, what material should the floor be, how dead/live is too dead/live for both applications? Is it even feasible to use the room for both? You know things of that nature. I have read much and have some knowledge on the subject matter but this is my first time actually putting this all to practice so any opinions are greatly appreciated. I would really like to do a proper job so that its done right the first time and I don't have to be bothered by any irreversible design flaws. Thank you all in advance.

You're going to hate this answer, but I'd suggest that you not do it at all. A proper booth is a real money pit both in time and resources, especially if you plan to combine isolation and a nice-sounding space. I can almost guarantee you'll get a better vocal/guitar sound from a larger space, even if you have to use some gobos (much cheaper to make) to do it.

Just my $.02.

Thank you for your honest answer. I will more than likely be using the gobos in the big room for guitars as a result. But I do really want a soundproofed and acoustically dry room for vocals and have the money set aside to build such a thing, I just don't want to miss important details along the way. When I send post the dimensions and pictures if the general consensus is that it just won't work then Ill have no choice but to abandon this venture. In the meantime, can you offer me some good advice on building gobos?

Actually there was just a good thread on building a basic gobo a few days ago. Just do a quick search and it should come right up...lots of great advice that it would take too long to reiterate.
