| Rough floorplan for new space - comments invited All, I am very close to closing a deal on my new place (aiming for 8th August) and have been trying to get together a basic floorplan I like to take to a couple of designers to get a quote for doing it properly. (I've basically used Sepmeyer/Louden type ratios but have no intention of doing the final geometry myself - I hate numbers). Ceiling height is 3.5 metres at the lowest point and about 5 metres at the highest. (1 metre basically equals 3 feet). There's also another floor (more lounge space/ a viewing gallery) covering the whole area to the left of the live room. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or practical suggestions on where I've got to so far: ![]()

| I think you'll hate not being able to access the control room while tracking. It will discourage visitors (good and bad). People shuffling through the live room between takes to use the restroom or leave will may blow the vibe of people tracking in this room. Flip the control room and main live room positions? |

Yes, that was a first thought. Also, having performers be able to see each other (from live room into drum or vocal isos) is key for tracking. Also, I don't see an office. Gotta have some business space as well as storage (that I see you've got). Is that part of the 2nd floor plan? Now, my question: what software did you use to do this mock up?

| Cool. Yep, performers should be able to see each other. Wife is doing business stuff from her office so no worries there. I'll have another computer in control room to do basic stuff like print cds etc. Google sketchup (its a free download). Thanks for your help! Any more for any more?
