Speakers, distance etc.

Hello.
When setting up monitors, due to my plans building them inside a basstrap.
Is it so important that the distance between the speakers is equal to the distance between you and the speakers? Due to the triangle?

The short answer is: yes, it's that important. If they're just a hair off equilateral then no big deal. If they're way off then your imaging is going to suffer, and depending on the specific monitors you might cause phase problems or other anomalies.

The equilateral triangle is the most common setup, with 60 degrees between each node. Some studios use a 90 degree setup.

Unless you're in a fairly large room, 60 degrees will be the way to go...I'd stay away from a 90 degree triangle in the room you're in right now.

I wouldn't do a 90 degree triangle in a room that small...60 degrees is pretty much the way to go unless your room is a good bit larger.

I agree, 90degrees is too much for that small a room. My point is just that 60 degrees isn't set in stone, though I prefer that setup if it is possible in the room.
