| advice needed on treating my room! Hi there, I’m looking to treat my room, unfortunately it is my bedroom as I’ve moved back from university with the parents and I’m having to cram everything into one room! I’ve measured the room dimensions and furniture (see below diagrams) – could anyone help me by suggesting how to treat it, as I have no idea where to start… Unfortunately the room is close to the dreaded cube shape and several failed attempts have led me to find that this is the only realistic way that I can have the room laid out – it’s quite cramped! There is a drum kit in the room and any suggestions made to help me enhance my drum sound would be gratefully appreciated. Below is some information you may find helpful: - The cupboard (dimensions) in the corner is fixed and can’t be moved - Walls are wallpapered onto brick with a thin insulating membrane (approx. 2mm thick) - Relatively thick carpet on floor - I have a very thick blind that can pulled over the window whilst mixing to block any reflections - Pine furniture Thanks for the help! | Hey Dave, First off you need to get the mix spot out of that corner. See the following page to see if this gives you a few ideas on set up. GIK Acoustics: Room Setup You want as many bass traps as you can in the corners and treat the early reflection points in the room. ![]() Also take a read at the following page to bring you up to speed on acoustics. GIK Acoustics presents Acoustics Primer: Some Basics on Acoustics. Glenn |

| Conflict Hi David, That primer is very well written and all true. For perspective check out the same at RealTraps and studiotips - tips on studio design, acoustics, and wiring. I will reinforce one point which you will find we all agree on. Bass Trapping-you cannot have too much in such a room. I think you will need to focus on either a decent listening environment OR a good drum sound. Unfortunately they contradict.
