| Small Control Room Is the common belief that the smaller the room the more "Dead" it should be? Dimensions are estimates but 7'x12' with 9 foot ceilings. Near field monitoring via NS-10's. Thanks. |

Your first reflections will be quick and strong. Have seen far smaller, ratios are pretty good though... | |

| Lives for gear | I'd err on the side of dead for a small control room like that, but make sure you deaden evenly across the frequency spectrum. You don't want to just put up thin blankets or foam and ignore bass trapping. Small rooms need proportionately more bass trapping, because the low frequency comb filtering is worse. In a room that small, I'd start with bass traps in the corners and on the rear wall, with more absorption at the first reflection points. Once that's done, if you need more you can add more absorption at other places in the room.

| Lives for gear | Everybody's made great points thus far. A room that small does require a very holistic treatment approach. Just treating for one problem will just reinforce another. If you follow Glenn and JWL's advice and treat the "meat-and-potatoes" issues you'll get 90% of the way there. You can spot treat from there. Frank
