| Question about first reflection treatment Hi folks, Like many people, I've been turned on to room treatment recently. I have a small control room, around 12 by 10. I recently picked up a pair of MiniTraps that are straddling the corners opposite the monitors, and boy has it made a difference. The bass is much tighter now. So I've been told that treating the first reflection points on the side walls and ceiling would be a good idea, but I have no money at the moment. So my question is this: Is it worth doing a super-low-budget treatment, such as hanging squares of fabric (felt, maybe?) at these first reflection points? Would simple fabric accomplish anything useful at all, or is it not worth the trouble? Thanks for your input and suggestions. samuelzero |

| Lives for gear | Thick blankets will absorb high frequencies. How low they absorb depends on the properties of the material used, and how much of it is there. Fluffy fiberglass works, but you probably don't have any lying around. Do you happen to have a cotton futon lying around? If so, hang it up somehow on your rear wall directly behind your mixing position. Or roll it up into a corner. Be careful not to make the room too dead. The bass trapping you have will help.

| Just to clarify, for the back wall you need something much thicker. Maybe pick up a few more traps from Ethan or something made from rigid fiberglass or mineral wool that is no less then 4" thick. Space that off the wall 4". ![]() Glenn
