Best way to arrange room

Hi,

I need some help figuring out the best way to layout my equipment.

I have attached a diagram of the room.

It has a 9' ceiling, plaster walls and a hardwood floor (home is 100+ years old. All electrical is new and I have a large walk-in closet for computer and r2r.

My desk is 6'3"

Console is Tascam DM-3200
Monitors are Tannoy Reveal 66D
I also have a big cinema display

Right now, my desk is in the upper left hand corner.

I have a low rack (with two rows) beneath the window in the upper right

I have a 20 space rack on the left wall near the window.

I have some guitars hanging on the back wall with a couple amps below them.

I have 2 auralex mounted on pannels 3'w x 4' high on the wall in front of the desk behind the speakers

Any help would be appreciated.

As it's setup now (old monitors)

Face the upper 11.5' wall and sit 38% of the room length. Bass traps in as many corners as possible and panels in early reflection points. See the following page for mix spot and set up of acoustics.

I'd actually face the left wall. This way you can get panels at the first-reflection points on the side wall, without the closet being in the way. Also, Glenn is right about the 38%, bass trapping in corners, and first reflection points, including the ceiling, side, and rear walls. For more on this (RFZ creation), see:

I did not even see the closet so good spot there JWL. I do like though that the length is going to be a bit longer facing the upper wall. All and all you may need to try it both was and test room.

...or you could mount the panels at the closet first reflection point like so:

I have rebuilt my work space and things are sounding a lot better - desk away from wall as well as speakers. Removed foam on side wall (although not in pic)

still working on a few things

Thanks Glenn! I like Rics and I build a lot of guitars. Right now I'm building a Ric meets Epiphone Olympic guitar for this guy (Todd):
