| Lives for gear | Floated ceiling
When building a room within a room (as can be seen on many studio construction threads), why is the second ceiling attached to the original one? Why not just put the second ceiling on top of the 4 new walls ?

If done right, the second ceiling is isolated by resilient clips, springs etc, because that is usually cheaper than making the inner walls structural members to support the inner ceiling. It varies with the cost of materials in an area of course. Andre |
