Help me with this room

Hi could you help me with my room. ive put up bass traps used to have carpet and now i put in woodfloors. Now that i put in wood floors do i need to put up more foam on the ceiling? do i need to now add a rug? The room is more lively now and great for tracking acoustic instruments in. thanks

Yes, having a reflective floor usually means you need more absorption on the ceiling. You'll also benefit from more, and better quality, bass traps.

Hi, Thanks Ethan. Those traps i have there are the ones that came in the Auralux Roominator kit. Im sure there are alot better. Where do you think i should put more panels? In the back of the room is probably the only place i could add. How about where my monitors are next to the window? is that ok or do i need to do something about that? Right now im getting this low end muddiness when i have the room correction turned off on my JBL4328 monitors.

I'd move the lenrds to the wall/ceiling corners, and stack the wall/wall corners floor to ceiling with good bass traps that work well under 100Hz. Keep adding panels until all the corners are covered. Once they are, add panels over the lenrds until they are full. Or stop at any point along the way, once you are happy with the low-end response.

The rear wall is also a good idea. Put panels at least 4" thick at least 4" from the rear wall at the reflection points. Another bass trap on the left rear corner makes sense. Possibly another on a stand for in front of the door when the door is closed.

Thanks JWL. So you mean move the lernds that are in the l/r mix position up to the wall/ceiling? to the left and right of the mix position?? and then go top to bottom with better bass traps? such as what? any better prices than Auralux?>

This comes up a lot when people buy RealTraps and already have LENRDs. As a rule we recommend moving the LENRDs to wall-ceiling corners because it's easier to mount our larger heavier panels in wall-wall corners. At least I'm pretty sure that's what Jim had in mind.

basically, you sit at the mix position while someone is moving a mirror along the studio walls.wherever you see the speakers in the mirror, that's where you place absorption.
