Me again! REW Help required.

Ok The workstation I have my REW is not on the net, so were gonna have to wing this... My room is getting a 15 DB Drop from 60hz to 100hz we have moved the speakers away from the wall and the best we got between 60 - 100hz was about a 6 DB hole. Problem is that when we get the 60 - 100hz under control (I would say a 6db hole is ok) the high end from 2khz to 5khz become abnormally fat, most of the body living below 85hz as in it creates multiple holes. We also have a bit of an issue with between 100hz and 300hz we have some 15db peaks.

My triangle is ok

I may be near the null point in the room, but this seems to be working the best where we are now, We have some bass traps that we have moved around and find that it causes more bad then good at this point. But its hard to tell without a phase scope if we are loosing due to room model or phase.

HELP!

Just shoot some ideas at me, Ill try them in real time! [Mastershake]

I don't see a specific question, but the obvious solution for you is bass traps. Do you have any now?

Today is the day I build 8 bass traps 7' by 3' and hang em.

I am going to start with 2 on each wall extending 6 inches from the ceiling and 6 inches from the floor. depth will prob be.... 3 inches? The thinner the better.

is 3 inches enough or should i shoot for 4 -5?

For bass traps, thicker is better. Three inches is the minimum, and thicker is better still.

Hey ethan, I put up 10 traps in my room 4 inches thick.. attacking all eairly reflections and I think I have a modal problem now, I tried using the JBL calculator but... well it only says bad things to me.

I am as close to my front wall as possible 3.5feet from it to be exact.... and in my 10 foot deep room is about where I should be. 60hz is still being thrown to the rear 38% and I am not hearing it in the front 38% its not a DB null but an audible null.... so strange with my SPL meter I get 85hz in the back 38% then when I move up it goes to 88db but sounds like I lose 20db

80hz to 200hz are nailed.... 60hz is my enemy.

more bass traps on the rear wall? Defusion? Gasoline spill and a nice cigar?

Ok so tell me if I have this right.

The reason I have a null in my seating position is because refections are reaching me delayed from some still untamed reflection points?

My guess would be my rear wall I left some old bass traps on there that are not exactly worth a crap...

I was curious, whats the deal with the arched or bowed piece of wood as a bass trap? The ones where you bend the thin plywood between to holders?

Do these work or what? I have seen them a lot but not a lot of information on them.

Yes, but I wouldn't use the term "reflection points" because that implies the places halfway between your ears and the speakers. The rear wall is often the main culprit.

That's not a bass trap, though I guess it could be made into a bass trap. The purpose is to scatter mid/high frequency reflections. Curved wood reduces flutter echo, but it's not as good as a QRD type diffusor which also reduces comb filtering.

Ethan you are in infinite master at your craft.

would you say the back wall is more important to treat then the forward wall?
