Inexpensive treatments?

I am fairly new to the production world.....extremely new and very much new to these forums. I have a question.
I am trying to acoustically treat my little budding studio at home for acoustic guitar and vocals. Is there specific treatment for acoustic guitar and vox (diffusers, bass traps, absorbers) and if so are they made by the same people that make the popcorn at the cinema, the sandwiches at the airport and the cartridges for razors because (that was tongue in cheek btw) they are soooo expensive from what I have seen. Is there a cheapy cheat to get a room dampened and cut down on the really hot reflection I am getting on these very flat walls?
Can't imagine how often this question was posed....I'll take the rubber stamp explanation.

Actually we use only child labor and also have a contract with the local jail for labor.

Us too Glenn, but I have a strict policy of hiring nobody younger than 10, and all our prisoners laborers are women. Too many hassles with male prisoners.

Problem with kids over 10 is they have no manner and like to talk back. "Glenn pay me more, Glenn I am hungry, Glenn my feet hurt" blah blah blah blah. But the real young ones are pretty easy to deal with.

I've had several ask for more porridge!

The acoustics business ain't what it used to be.
