Thread Starter | Choice of underlayment for basement floor?
I'm getting towards the end of my studio build in my basement and I'm putting in a Mannington engineered maple floor (real wood). Since it's in a basement, is the choice of underlayment critical? I know there needs to be a vapor barrier, but I'm wondering how much the choice of underlayment affects the sound of the floor. It seems like most of the sound deadening underlayments are geared towards preventing sound from transferring to a room below, but that's not my situation. I'm wondering if using something other than the standard foam underlayment will affect the sound in the room. Thanks.
