Lighting colors

If you are an ambiance studio rat and need more than just lava lamps, crystals and incense and had your choice of lighting color...what would it be?

Red, amber, green, yellow, blue...etc...?

???

Thank you!

Why limit yourself to just one color? I've got a bunch of these in my room, and can change the color with a remote control: LED Colour Changing Lamp. This is from a UK site, but I'm sure you could find something similar in the States.

Hello rig,

Thank you for your reply...would this unit fit in an American light receptacle? Also I wanted to go with different colored lights because I am not installing dimmers in my little studio...you want ambiance? Choose a color and I'll twist it up in the light receptacle...simple...but would like to know what the general slutz consensus is...

Thanks!

Here you go, a US site with a version that screws into a normal socket: Tristar E27 RGB Lamp

If this is like the one I have, it just screws into a plain socket. The bulb dims itself, in response to commands from the remote control. Very vibe-inducing, especially when you set it to cycle fading between all the colors.

Hey rig,

Man...that is the optimum! What I wouldn't give to be able to afford 4 of those and the remote...maybe when my little pee in the pants studio starts making some money (when we open) I can get those...

Very very cool...thanks!

Now...in the meantime...what color would you like to have with your sessions?
Best,

Just found this thread and I was wondering, other than lighting up your studio for sexy glamour shots for your web page, if you are using colored lights how much bang for the buck does the added ambiance give you?

Do you work in a well lit (white light) most of the time or do you give the talent dim lights or mood lighting to get them in the zone mentally?

Well I've been looking for a post to cover the lighting.

I'm in the process of opening a multi room rehearsal complex and we're going for the age old idea of colour coding the 4 rehearsal spaces.

What ideas do you have for non-harsh, but fairly bright coloured lighting? Energy saving is also a plus as they are going to be used a lot.

Thanks in advance

Since I participated in this thread years ago, and now it's been resurrected, I thought I'd share updates to my lighting situation. I've installed Chauvet Colorstrips as wall washes in the room (Amazon Chauvet ColorStrip) and they're great. They fade between colors, you can have them be sound-responsive, and there are several programs for linked units. I don't have a commercial facility, but the lights make all the difference for mood and vibe. I couldn't imagine creating music in white light or daylight.

I installed a 5 meter long led strip around the inner perimeter of my ceiling which also can be set to virtually any colour with a remote control, also strobing and other automatic effects.

I found some colored LED bulbs that should fit my track lighting. I bought enough to do my iso booth and see how it looked and if it added any kind of vibe. The good thing is that you can control the color with a little remote control and white light is also an option. I figured how could I lose?

That looks pretty cool. I have a great way to incorporate that in my control room.
