Studio Opportunity

Hello all. I have an opportunity to get some studio space that I can afford (!) and is conveniently located. It's in some old office space and I will have someone on the other side of the wall who should not be able to hear me at all. What's there is now is just sheet rock I guess, normal office construction. Given that this is not a lot of info, what would I have to do (and by do I mean spend) to get this place soundproofed? Sorry for the non specifics but it's all I have.

i dont think God cares about compression so long as its coming from the heart-ian.van
I heard that, on the back, one of the hardware expansions they were offering was a tissue dispenser for the people that cry when they are using it because it's so terrible.-spiral

I would HIGHLY recommend you hire a person who knows what they are doing to take a look at what you have to give you a price. CHECK THE PERSONS BACKGROUND AND WORK, as there is a big difference between building a plain room vs a sound "proof" room.

too many variables.

Are you recording death metal bands, string quartets or just listening to your ipod on headphones ?

for a decent 'sound proof' (whatever that means) room it's gonna be £££ (or $$$ depending on where you live)

Jeff Hedback: Hedback Designed Acoustics - ABOUT HdA

I would definitely give him a call, he can work something out with you from start to finish or likely just help with room design if you like.

You'll get more useful advice if you say where you're located or, better, update your profile to include that.
