Floors!

My new floors go in on Monday I'm doing it myself, and could use some advice.

The basement has a rough concrete floor at the moment, and what i wanted to do was to put down a subfloor (that plastic stuff that comes in blue or orange, and keeps moisture away), three quarter inch ply, and then hardwood. I know its not total isolation, but my ceilings are low, and I cant bring the height of the floors up too much. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

Alex

should work fine. there won't be an isolation value per se, but if you are building your walls on top of the new floor, then ensure you have enough support under the edges because the soft insulation will completely flatten out so consider neoprene or other denser rubber for the edges. also, if building the walls on the floor, make cuts between room so the floors are at least not directly connected.
