| Lives for gear | Studio layout possibilities Hi fellow slutz, I am planning to purchase and reconstruct a smaller house for my studio because the place where I am staying currently is nowhere near ideal. I have measured and modeled the house into skethchup. Before we move on - it's a requirement for me - my studio MUST also provide a place where my clients can sleep including a small kitchen and the bathroom - most of my clients are from all over the country (we are a very small country and bands often travel to studios) so this is a must. I also want to completely separate the housing part and the studio part so when we finish with the work I simply lock the studio part and the band can chill out in the rest of the house. I have basically 2 variations 1) both designs have the control room in the same place - this one is pretty obvious. In the first variant I would keep the whole room as the live room and the red room in front of the CR would be a vocal / ISO booth. The rest would be converted to a small appartment - while the bathroom is in the upper right square. 2) in the second variation the iso/vocal booth would be built into the live room's corner, this gives me more space for the appartment but the size of the live room will be reduced from roughly 20 to 18 square meters. The place is overall quite a bit limited but this is what I can afford and given that my current space is even smaller I'll be pretty happy with this for sure. I do mostly metal and rock stuff so the sizes should be sufficient. the CR should be able to accomodate a 4 piece band, which is not a problem. The ceilings are quite cool - 3,20 meters high so that's no problem also. all comments and suggestions are welcome thanks david

| Those rooms are pretty small. I'd aim for whatever you can do to keep things as large as practical. Meaning fewer rooms. --Ethan
