Need build help

I am building a 12 X 14 room with 9 ft ceilings in the garage. I am only using a part of the garage because my landlord needs some room for his stuff. I live in a guest house above the garage with the control room being the living room. I will be using the 12X14 room mainly for drums. I've got a bunch of 2x4's. Should I make the walls 2x6 deep or just use 2x4's? I will only have to build 3 walls one of them will need a door. The 4th wall divides the garage with the laundry room. Any tips/books would be killer. I will be running a snake from the living room down to the tracking room. I don't want to bum the neighbors out so I need to make it as quiet as possible.

you might want to invest in a sound level meter and Rod Gervais's book Home Studio Construction - Build It Like The Pros. thats about $100 total and will one of the best investments you make. depending on the isolation required (which you determine using the sound meter) will determine what you can do (you're renting for one) with your budget (which could easily be thousands of dollars done right).

Thanks! I already have the sound meter. I got one from radio shack a while back.
