| Tracking and mixing room question Hello all and thank you in advance for your replies... It was suggested that my back wall be bare...drums face it so I understand that...room size is H=8' L=18' W=10' So not a big room...but I understand why we would want to make the back wall bare... Since this is also the room I mix in (Will be adding 5 bass traps and 6 smaller traps) when mixing, will the bare back wall be good or bad? Don't want to rip down something, soft wall, that is good...but willing to take it down if it bad... Thank you! Best, amba

| If this is the back wall of the control room then you are not going to want it bare as you are going to have a nulls peaks coming from it. If the mics for the drums will be 6 feet or more from the wall then you can mix up absorption and diffusion to give it a little life. But all and all a flat surface near a mic is going to give comb filtering, which you do not want. Glenn |

  | Yeah, a bare back wall is probably not what you want. Absorption is good, or depending on how far the drums and/or the mix position are, diffusion could work as well. A mix of the two might be ideal. Another possibility is to put your acoustic treatments on stands so that you can move them where they are most useful in that moment.
