Thread Starter | Need help with studio layout... So I have been looking for a new space for my studio for about 4 months now and this is the best space that I have found so far. I can't figure out what would be the best way to split the space apart. The main problem are the pillars that are in the room. I can't seem to get a good space for the control room. Hear is a drawing of the space that I am working with. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks, Reed

| same as the other forum :-) i'd put the CR opposite the 22-510 marker so the live room is long towards the kitchen and bath with a hallway to the CR. |

), this is just a sketch for a strategy of how to split up the room. The lounge could easily be divided to include an "open" office as well with just some simple cubicle walls or something. If I was to build something like this, I'd do a sketch like this with how I was thinking, and pass it along to an acoustics engineer and have him run it in his tools etc. to get the 100% correct shapes and angles of the rooms etc. Keep us posted about your project! Cheers, JFN | |

| Lives for gear | What are your needs for this room? Obviously you need a control room, and you mention a machine room. Do you need a recording room? Vocal booth? Etc....

Thread Starter | Thanks for all the help so far. I have an idea and as soon as I get to a scanner I will post it. Hear is what I need: The control room must fit my console Sony 3036 93.50" long (end to end), 44.75" deep (front to back), and either be large enough for my tape machines ( mci 16/24 37.7" wide, 27" deep and MCI Jh110 25.5" wide, 25" deep) or have a machine room. I also need a live room that is either easy to break up with gobos or have 1 or 2 iso rooms. Most of the stuff that I do is indie rock type stuff and I spend most of my time tracking. Right now my studio is really small but I like the sound and the vibe, if it were not being torn down I would not move. Thanks again, Reed |
