| A Real Portable Vocal Booth? Ok, I have a plan to make a small vocal booth I can basically just fold up and move whenever I need to. I'll just have a piece of thick carpet to roll out as the flooring, and make panels of 705 or 703 that can be stood up to build a small room in a place. Then I am going to make a specially designed slanted roof with 50% arualux panels. Will this sound good? What are some good demensions for this kind of a project, as in, the smallest possible still sounding good? I want it to be multi-purpose, even able to through a drummer in there. I know I won't be able to see into it but thats a small inconvenience for such a job. Is this too much absorption? *also, I will be reusing these panels as bass traps in my mixing room* Possible? Or am I dreaming?

| There's not a top to them, but I have these (S5's) and like them, work well as a vocal booth made from gobos. May not work with tall singers unless you rig something up. Very portable and can be used as a makeshift bass trap (tho not as good as RealTraps) if you set up in a corner... They're fiberglass within cloth covering. http://www.clearsonic.com/sorber.htm

| Lives for gear | I think you should just use gobos that you can arrange into a circle or a square. I don't see the point of adding a ceiling, unless you are somehow going to add a lot of mass to the booth walls and make it airtight. If you really want to stop drum sounds, you'd need to build something like this, which of course makes it tough to be portable. But gobos will stop a lot of sound, and with good placement (both mics and instruments) you can get good isolation. For example, in one room I record in often, the ceiling is treated with fluffy fiberglass covered with cloth, and I have 6 freestanding gobos, 2'x6' tall. I can arrange them in a half-circle in one corner, put additional freestanding bass traps in the corner, and I have a good, dead sounding space. It's not boomy because it's not really a small room, low end can escape. At the same time there isn't a lot of room sound because of the deadness at mids and highs. But then it's no secret I'm a big fan of moveable treatment strategies.

| Sweet, this is what I was looking for. Didn't even know it existed... What would you suggest? 6 clearsonic gobo traps to make a half circle with one behind in the corner? Then could I just have a roll of carpet to put underneith and tape on top each time? Or would the carpet do nothing? Woud get a sheet of fiberglass in cloth to roll out as a roof of some sort?

| How about these acoustic panels? ACOUSTIC PANEL WALL MOUNT SYSTEM Think they would work about the same The acoustic panels are from this company: ATS Acoustic Panels The only problem is they are only 4 feet high, do you think that's high enough for drums? And then could I just raise them for vocals? Or would that not be effective because of the seepage above and below them? It wouldn't be too hard to make kind of a stand for them. And they're cheap...
