| Measurement Technology - recommendations<?> Hi all, I would like to get feedback on any tools that you may have used ( besides your good ear-bones , yes I use that too ) to measure acoustics in indoor environments. While I understand that the ear test rules, I would like confirmation that the various treatment(s) are accomplishing their jobs and solving the problems. Thus, to proceed in a deterministic way, I would like to introduce a repeatable measurement scheme. I am specifically interested in reflections present at the microphone as compared to the originating sound. I would like to know the amplitude and frequency of the reflections. I know already there is some uneven stuff and emphasis (bouncing around). I want to correlate what I am hearing to something a little more describable. (right now I am calling it the "sheetrock sound.") OK, so is that 2k, 3k, 4k ? and is it coming from windows, corners, and does it go away if I do this , that, the other thing. I am hoping I can do "less" experiments and get to the treatment more quickly if I know what it really is. Make sense ? Comments welcome and needed. Thanks !! |

For Mac users FuzzMeasure is great: FuzzMeasure Pro 3 There's also the freeware Room EQ Wizard. This article on my companys' site explains the advantages of programs like these: RealTraps - Optimizing Acoustic Treatment using ETF --Ethan

| I can only comment on the non-Mac solutions. The 2 that Ethan recommended are both very good. ETF does give you more than REW but for a freebie, REW is a fine tool that will get you a long way down the road. Bryan
