I think from what I read you (the uploader) have to specify it as downloadable and I think it is mp3 and not .wav

This made it pretty easy for me to download.
SoundCloud Downloader

I think eventually I can streamline a wav upload and downloads with a password ftp.

In addition, I was working on Pensado's mix contest at indaba, however I am finished that and will upload some stuff to soundcloud and see what sticks. Everyone when time permits should upload something. I am eager to hear everyone's ideas. Thanks eddie machete for getting it going !!!

Sounds like it would be a blast! I'd love to be involved if you have enough interest. I'm still somewhat of a Logic newbie, but I'm slowly figuring it out.

As far as sharing files, I haven't yet tried it - but we might be able to use the online DAW from Ohm... Ohm Studio

I just got finished looking over this and honestly it looks too good to be true! I hope it does everything it says it does. The only major drawback for me is that it only supports VST, and as a Logic guy, I'm just wondering how all this could be free. Any of you other guys ever hear about this?

I'd like to get involved as well, I'm mostly interested in trying arrangement / effects / mixing but I can play a little keyboards as well.

BTW Video yourself while you are recording - we might be able to put a video together as well.

yeah....I can't see how there can't be measurable lag....added to latency already existing, it does seem too good but who knows .....we can always look at stuff on soundcloud and then pack stems in a folder for people to download. I gotta look at some recent stuff I wrote and get it up.....I know I had some reggae and some punk and some electronic loops and some heavy metal in a session a few weeks ago. What do most here like to work on? Or would most like something they wouldn't normally work on?

Makes no difference to me. I've gone through phases throughout my like so I like almost all styles to some degree. I tried the sound cloud downloader and it still won't let me save the files. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I'm usually pretty good with this kind of stuff.

Hey guys, not sure what everyone is looking for but here is an uptempo track from a writing session called "send me home" Nothing has been corrected so its gots warts and pimples, but it also has a cool tempo change I really like. If anyone wants to do any work on this let me know....I am open to changing it around completely...it also needs a bridge.....the vocal melody can be changed...the guitar progression can be changed etc...------cheers

I think that would sound interesting as a grungy (think Garbage) type track.

http://soundcloud.com/frasermcgregor/metal-midi-render-forJust keep throwing your music up on the thread until something sticks and something is started guys. This is something I started today. And for some goddamn reason it sounds shit rendered. Sounds great in Ableton, rendered it out and I seem to have lost some effect from the plug ins I was using and I've lost some meat. The guitar was heavier and harmonics filled the gaps so it sounded like more notes where playing. The drums lost heavyness too. I'll have to get to bottom of it. Anyway, I set myself a midi challenge. To start programming metal drums and guitars and so forth. Experimenting with samples too. The scratch effect is actually a woman screaming. Since it's all MIDI, when the track is complete I can upload the midi or bounce it down into stems. Working with midi will have it's advantages in collab's being that its not DAW restrictive, the midi file can just be dropped into a track and messed around with, re-arranged, slap a different instrument on it and so on. The bpm is 120. Nowhere near finished but I might aswell post it and see if it sticks. Cheers.

so mefistophelees, you think it should work ok with a dirty loops for drums and percussion, and eq vocal dirtier, and some dirty synth beds and a lot of layers in general? Sounds cool.

Hey eddie, awesome song! being a huge Hellraiser fan, I about fell out of my chair when I heard the Pinhead sample, nice touch! Now, I'm 32 now but when I was much younger I was a huge metal head. That was the majority of what I used to play, but as I got older I found myself moving away from that. Now, I'm enjoying the music that I would never give the chance to back then. When I heard your track, it made me pull out the Jacksons and Charvels and got me itching to layer some metal guitar over the top. Sadly my metal chops aren't what they used to be, so can't pull off that arpeggio (honestly I think it sound cool the with the one you have), but I tried some chuggy rhythm instead and had a lot of fun doing it. After I uploaded to Soundcloud, the guitars seem a little loud, but you'll get the idea. I have the stems of course if you want them. I'm hoping someone can bring something else to the table here as I think this track has good potential. Let me know what you think.

btw, I see you had it set to "no downloads", so I had to use Brock's method to capture the audio. I don't know if you did that on purpose or not, but I set the one on my page so that others can DL it. I hope you don't mind, but if so, let me know and I'll change it.

Brock, this sounds interesting. I'd like to do something on this too but with the tempo changes and whatnot, I feel like it'll take some time to sort it out in my daw. What are the tempos anyway?

Hi frets, I had only put a couple of hours into it so its not ready to share for a project I was just seeing if it would spark someones interest! I like the idea of you putting some chug down on it! I don't mind if anyone downloaded it nah. If someone wants to add live shred to it that would be cool. I need to finish it off add some more stuff, different parts and such, take it to about 3 minutes, when I get on the pc ill get on your SC and have a listen! The scratching can go in favour of some lead or whatever.

frets! Nice job man! I really like the riff and notes your playing for the fast kick section. I'll get on with extending it and adding perhaps another midi riff that you could play over too? Another beat I think too. To about three minutes, now we need some lead shred! Anyone in?!

Brock! Curious if you can offer up an acapella of your vox, along with a note on the tempo, key, chords used!? I'd like to experiment ..

Well welcome aboard Jim! Its an open floor! Post your music ideas so everyone can hear them! Suggest and get involved. If you hear something that makes you want to contribute get involved. We don't have to have just one version of a track. The beauty of this is we can have multiple endings to all our collaborations. We could start our own soundcloud channel and host all our finished projects in all their versions.

Good to hear Jim! What's your specialty? Like, do you sing or play instruments? Or maybe you wanna work on production. Like eddie said, total blank canvas here. Feel free to dive in at any time.

Yeah eddie, I don't write with a click so I would have to work up a solid drums stem to get the ball rolling on that tune I posted. (if anyone wants to build drums tracks feel free) The verse is a punk A, D, I think. I was just gauging interest by posting but, Alas, it is holidays here and we are in Manitoulin island northern ontario with family for a while.....summer is hard to get balls rolling ha ha........but eddie, I really like that last idea you posted and it has a cool vibe...and it was built on a grid which makes it easier too. It looks like there is interest in the community vibe thingy. I like it. cheers all and happy summer days

Yea I'm really liking the whole community vibe too. Ive got family in Ontario. Toronto. Lake eerie, Niagara falls, and newfie too I think! Have a good holiday! When you get the time I think it would be cool to offer up an acapella and list the bpm, key etc. Then anyone interested can dl and start building a track for it. When people start posting links to files we can all just grab em and stick them in our daw and start experimenting. My scoring project has stopped until I receive three finished episodes so I have some time to get stuck in. I might just listen to your track and figure it out and start building something. Cheers.

Man, check out the ghost town in here! haha!

Ok, so I've been working on an idea for a kinda/sorta heavy sounding tune. I've been deviating from common time lately and did this one in 6/8 at 110 bpm. I think it could be something decent with help from you guys. This is by no means a finished song. I have a verse, chorus, and maybe a bridge idea here. I spent maybe an hour and a half programing the drums. I think they sound ok, but it would be much better if one of you had a mic'd up kit and could possibly lend a real live performance. I recorded some bass underneath, however, if any of you actual bassists care to lay something down, I think it would really benefit. Please chop this up, rearrange, add to it if you can and let me know if this is something you'd be interested in. I think it would be really cool to add a synth element. Let me know what you all think, I'd love to spend some more time with this. Thanks!

Woah, what happened to this thread? Everybody seemed so eager to put something together, and now it's been over 2 weeks since anyone has posted. C'mon people, post some stuff. Let's hear your ideas!

Hi frets. I think everyone just got real busy with other commitments. At least, I did myself. I got to starting a new project using this forum name and producing different music than I had been doing to build up a portfolio of work. Concentrating on building my own sound. Now I have targets and a limited amount of free time. But I didn't think this thread would be have a fast turnaround for collaborations when I started it, I'm still interested and I'm sure others are too. 'real world' production was always going to come first, I'm trying to start getting paid after all. I'm not really feeling the last track you posted, someone might come along and love it though you know how it is. I'm currently working on fusing many genres and techniques into something palatable, if that sparks an interest in you. If you have any electronic music lying around you have been working feel free to post it up. I don't have the time for collab right now but when I do have some time I will be posting some ideas on the thread. Perhaps in a few weeks. I have to write a lot of music in the next while. Peace!

I'd rather organize a worldwide 50-50 raffle. Imagine how much money those two people would make.
