C'mon - I Want To Write a Metal Song

Do we actually do "songwriting" for metal...

Does it actually have structure?

Most metal song I heard is unpredictable and unstructured (but they still great!) I'm choosing this path now...

I heard some says "Welcome to the dark side"... So yeah...

But I'm still writing light music and love song for other band...

This metal thingy is for my own band.
I can't believe I'm quite clueless where to start.

uh really? what sort of metal are you listening to? Because most of the metal I listen to has very structured songs.

but as for where to start, that's easy. you always start with the riff.

I firmly believe that metal is the most diverse genre in music, it has more subgenres than anything else. So I must reiterate the comment above, what kind of metal? bands like Avenged Sevenfold have very structured music (nearly along the lines of basic rock music). But you look at more diverse bands like August Burns Red who have punk and jazz roots, and they can be quite complex. The most intricate and unstructured would be mathcore bands (between the buried and me, protest the hero) VERY talented and highly artistic. But bear in mind, the more complex you get in metal, the more you shrink your audience. The last two bands I mentioned have a good following, but their fans are almost entirely musicians.

True, what you guys talking up there.
It's not easy.
It's like classical music vs pop music.

Perhaps I start somewhere around pop rock first.

Still look around and listen out of my usual circle.

I'm in a rock band and our current record (recorded and now being mixed) has some metal riffs all over. I'd be up for helping you write some metal.
Email dai_in_cardiff@hotmail.com if interested. Send me some details of what you're after/need

Hi, David.

Thanks for your kind will.
For now, I'll just looking around, listen and listen to more music.
I found you on Facebook though, not sure if you don't mind I add you.
Beside, I would love to listen to your band sometimes later when it launched.

Dang, you are all joking us!
People only steel MP3 downloads of Britney Houston, Snoop Frog, Big Kim, 2 bits, Kanye South, ,Lil GaWayne.

Seriously love if Rock/Metal/ guitar music came back in a big way.

Then again, IV not seen an actual record store in 10 years.
