Man, just keep doing what you're doing. The shift of mood works fine. The ending is not too long. Don't change the song. Don't shoehorn it into some tired pop mold. It is its own mold! Honestly, I enjoyed that shit more than 99% of the music I've heard in the past few months. The comical air is the best part!

For what it's worth I listened to the two first tracks and really liked them. Like the vocal as well. A very interesting mix project. Currently a bit of a mess. Hooray for someone doing something a bit different and for allowing some human error into the process. Please don't go near autotune, the perfect pitching comes at a high price.

not sure?...is the voice the finished take?
obvious comparissons to squiggle but he is better at singing and stuff.
but overall it is not worth 'binning'...you would regret that.

the voice seems to sharpen up later on as in the beginning you sound drunk...which is quite bad to listen to.
i believe this track nearly connects with emotions...nearly...how you make it really connect is a huge step...i mean..a HUGE step up.
but then it would actually be a masterpiece...so....try not to loose the plot.

whenever i'm having a bad day, i throw on some musicmonster.
...or a good day for that matter.

also, don't tune your voice, it's absolutely perfect just the way it is.

Most people here will hate the robot.
What autotune are you using?
If you really want to use it, it must be subtle.
If there is a mix setting, don't set it to 100 percent.
I actually use tune on my vocals, but I feel your voice and music style doesn't really need it.

If you use autotune for the sake of pitch correction in this song and try to make it sound "natural", you will start to meander not just in the matter of the structure of the song, but the whole essence of it. Then it's almost better making it a robot sound so it works more like an effect than a tool. It will be pretty boring/tasteless if you use it that way on the whole song, though. Maybe if you make robot voices only on the multivoiced "ohs" or something?

I dont think I want it to be a robot song cause theres noting about robots in the song but I could. It def sounds more like robots with the autotune plugin. I got a friend who is gonna melodine it with the grapgh thing

eww. posted by oil!?

i think he means nothing.

auto tune is not always bad.
if you want to sound like a T-Pain robot, go ahead.
it is merely a tool. just like eq, compression, blah, blah, blech...

what gets me is, i don't think musicmonster is your real name.
who are you?
who am i?
what is this?!

maybe oil was right...

Ok, sounds much better than using the autotune plugin. It was more like a suggestion if you had decided to use it.

Not got time to go in depth but you shouldn't trash it - well, at least not the first 1:00

Reminds me of Elbow with a chilled Motown twist.

The 2nd song is even better.

You've got some talent, just learn to sing better (your voice itself suits your music) and try and focus your songs a little more.

WIth regards Structure vs Weirdness, after experimenting I'd look to make a structured song and then chop it up a bit and edit in the weirdness where it suits the song. ATM it's verging on sounding like a jam rather than a song.

In my not so humble opionion...

there is something strange about you.

first off, your songs are all complete in their current form.
they don't need "better singing" or "more structure".
they are done and shouldn't be compromised whatsoever.

secondly, you knowingly (or maybe not-so-knowingly) posted
these tracks in a recording forum wherein many would scrutinize
your music openly.
this, ideally, should always be a constructive process that helps the poster hone their craft and get an honest opinion.
all too often though, you see the opposite.

thirdly, and lastly, your music doesn't belong here.
i'm ecstatic to hear anything you post, but there must be a grander outlet for your talent.
have you considered posting to SoundCloud?
this is one of many ways to promote your music.

i know this is a long post, but i can't help but try and understand the mystery that is musicmonster.

gearslutz is a great place for people to talk about, well...gear.
there is a new songwriting forum like you mentioned, but there are more ways to get yourself out there.
if you already are, i'd like to know where to look.

thank you for the music.
it has inspired me more than you know.

your songs are not normal shapes, like circles or squares

I like all of the tunes you have posted so far. They are very creative. Your music seems to imply that anybody can do whatever they will do musically and that it will be cool. Your music reminds me of lots of different artists. My advice to you is to keep making music. You already have a "sound". If you polish up your voice and your mixes you will have more "pop" appeal and you could potentially make money from music, but be careful that you don't trade your sound and style for mediocrity. Trust your ears and do what you think is right for the songs.

*Disclaimer*
keep in mind, i don't know anything about music and i have been told i've got very bad taste, so don't lean too heavily on anything I've said. I'm clearly not a professional or anything.

Hey I like your tunes. I feel like I am doing bongs at a friends house and you are just jamming for us.

You sound like the singer from the band GENERAL PUBLIC and your writing and production style is kind of early TODD RUNDGREN and FRANK ZAPPA LIKE in a way.

I like your art.

I never liked pot because it gave me a sore throat and MADE OUR HIPPIE DRUMMER PLAY SLOW.
I played in bands sometimes when the whole damn group would be outside getting high and make us late for sets.
