I just got caught up on my listening.....went back a few pages and listened to everything..

Loved that Ain't Nobody tune as well as that little ditty from stevopar.

This is a great thread!

I liked the first one. A little more upbeat then the second. Had a very slight Green Day vibe to it. I liked the production quality of the first better as well.

Millennium Girl

Original dance pop tune, first with me on lead vocal, then another version with lead vocals by an online session vocalist.

Ok so yeah maybe this needs work in the engineering field a little bit but not bad for in my own, I believe the lyrics are catchy, I gotta whispery voice I would say that raspy tune to it. But I like it and I'm proud of my work. Let me know what you guys think and feedback for the future thumbs on it and share would be cool if you got the time. Peace & love. http://youtu.be/FNgAK41q_A0

I liked it. It has coherent lyrics and good song structure which is half the battle. If I can't figure out what a song is saying within three lines, I tune out. At least I know what you are singing about pretty much right away. The melody is good. The instrument harmonies fit the song. The chorus seems to be catchy and hooky which is good.

I tend to like simplicity that is done well, rather than complexity done well. Your song fits this idea.

Good luck.

Hello and Happy New Year to everyone in the community! My name is Carl Wagner and I am a 16 year old singer/songwriter. My favoirte genres of music to listen to and write are manly house/electro house (Daft Punk and Deadmau5), and hard rock (Foo Fighters and Metallica), but for the end of the year I decided to step into a different direction. Looking back at 2012 and all of the terrible tragedies that had happened, I decided to write a song to express my thoughts and prayers. It is called "After Today". Within the lyrics, I also express optimism for a fantastic new year in 2013!

I co-wrote the song with my father. He wrote most of the lyrics, and I handled all of the music, singing and performing of all of the vocals and composing/performing for all of the instruments. The lyrics were written over a week's time, and the music was written along the way. I shot, edited and uploaded the video in 4 hours on the last day of 2012.

I poured all of my heart and soul into this song, and I hope you will all enjoy it. Thank you.

AFTER TODAY 2012 - ORIGINAL SONG BY CARL WAGNER - YouTube

After Today
------------------------
Words and Music by
Stan and Carl Wagner

Put your hat back on your head
We’ve got one more night again
The Mayan calendar had us all to die
Earth, Sun and Milky Way would collide
3 young lives taken at Chardon High
The whole nation was petrified
James Holmes entered a midnight movie
Killed 12 and 58 fought for their lives
Some nights I just lie in bed
Thinking about the world today
100 years ago who would’ve thought
That it would be this way?
This has been a trying year
Our lives have changed, the future’s here

After today, after today
I’ll never look back another day
The world didn’t end
But God’s still here to stay
We can’t change what happened
Those tragic days
Loved ones lost, families pray
After today, After today

12-12-2012
The rock world celebrated Sandy relief
Generating funds
To save the ones in need
Newtown, Connecticut is just a small town
Everyone knows most everyone around
But Sandy Hook Elementary school
Brought tears to all
Parents scream, heroes die
God is always on our side
He’s the reason that we came alive
He doesn’t want us to die before our time
Everyday people just stop to pray
After today, After Today
After today we need our lives back again

After today, after today
I’ll never look back another day
The world didn’t end
But God is still here to stay
We can’t change what happened
Those tragic days
Loved ones lost, families pray
After today, After today

(Outro)

Hey guys, I guess this is kind of a follow up to my earlier post some months back, I come back because so many of you were extra-ordinarily kind and sent me many many nice messages.

http://soundcloud.com/redtraces/once-were-single-version

By the way, it was amazing to note that I got a few thousand plays via Gearslutz (I only had the SoundCloud player up here, exclusively)

Had to take it down and move things around because it's coming out through a label now, but damn. It's kind of amazing to see how many lurkers who don't post there are on here! I encourage you all to get on here!

Enjoy the music. P.S. This is the first single off a full album.

Great tones on guitar and drums, and the lyrics are creative as well. I like it better than most of what I hear on the local rock station.

Here's a country tune that I've been struggling to share. I hear the song working well as a wedding song where the women is well complimented and the guy doesn't have to feel like a wimp. (If that makes any sense)

Problem is, I like the song. But I don't like the singer at all for this tune. I sent this song to a pretty well known Nashville demo studio. Because the song is borderline "sappy", I think it only works with a "manly" voice to give it a little "humble coolness", so I picked the singer from the male vocalist samples on their website and found a guy I thought would fit the tune. Problem is... he got sick and they replaced him with this guy... He's a really good singer, but he just sounds...well, too NICE and makes the song sound too sappy to work IMHO. I'd like to get some feedback and see if I'm over thinking it, but it doesn't sound "cool" to me at all. Just nice...
Thanks!

PS: I don't know what Soundcloud does to the files, but I can tell you it changes the sonics for the much worse... Too bad... Anyone else have this experience?

Great song here, Mitch. Good bones and the lyric is solid. But your right, that studio didn't do you any favors with the washy reverb and the vocalist. It sounds way dated, like John Connelly 70's dated and if your going to pitch it, that would be a turnoff. Do you have the stems from the session? I'll track the vocals for you if you want. And we can see if we can't modern it up. Pm me if interested. I'm not too, "nice"

Thanks! I truly appreciate the comment. Good to know someone is listening. We had a lot of fun recording this one. I especially had a lot of fun recording the guitar solo in the bridge. My pathetic attempt trying to sound like queen. haha.

Just finished this edgy number for my daughters Christian album. Way out of my genre on this one so I'm still "if'ee" about it.

First song I've recorded in the studio. I believe we tracked this in early 2011.
