Good one!
I find the song good in itself, but I don't like some of the tones, especially the drums, which, IMHO, are a bit harsh and dry.
The overall mix, to me, could be warmer.
What gear did you use?

The song is catchy though!
I like it!

Thanks for the feedback! I agree, there some definite problems with the tones, and I think part of that comes from trying to record everything direct in. I recorded in cubase 5 with a focusrite scarlett. The bass, acoustic and electric guitars were all direct in. I used the amp simulator plugin that comes with cubase to try and liven them up, but they still sound weird. I'm thinking I might do better to mic the acoustic at least. The drums I programmed and used one of the stock cubase drum sounds.

I wonder if perhaps the guitars could use some side-chain compression for the vocals?

I'm glad you like the song! I'll make some changes and post it up soon.

Ok I understand now. Actually I find that only the acoustics and the drums are especially dry, the rest is ok

Here some very rough demos I made

www.myspace.com/djyne

It's definitely not as "pro" as you, but it was fun to play

Lol, I've been called many things in life, but not pro. Your songs are pretty awesome. I wish I could hear the vocals more clearly, but the songs are very good. I really liked SOS and no future. Killer guitar thoughout...

Also, here is the latest revision of mine. I recorded the electric guitars through a vox stomplab this time, and put a mic on the acoustic. And I re-recorded the bass too, since the first one was kind of sloppy.

Cool Branden, I find this version better
And the drums are less harsh, aren't they?
What did you recorded the drums with? You said Cubase, the stock sequencer?
Sounds ok!

The song sounds definitely tighter and better to me.

Just another thing, as you asked for feedback : to me the guitar solo could be more wild, I mean not necessarily more "technique" but more expressive maybe IMHO

I really like the whole vibe, the melody and the harmonic variations

and thanks for your feedback

For the record, I used my "new" 66' Fender Mustang plugged into a Super Reverb Reissue + few pedals (my main pedal being The Fuzz War by DBA)

And about vocals, I put them a bit lower on purpose as I'm not very confident about it yet...

As most people I struggle to have any confidence in my singing voice. I would like your guy's opinions/tips/bashing of what i'm working with. Anything is helpful, honestly as it won't stop me from making music…only motivate me. Cheers!

I'm self taught and just kinda write for myself as i don't think im good enough for playing live....also i have memory problems lately.
thanks and I'll check you girls and guys back if you check me out.

i've learned to like the chemical taste
underneath my tongue when i slow down my brain
molecules are shaking around, i'm never around town
im in my home just trying to get comfortable
so tired of being afraid but not of the common things
not so scared to die im afraid to lose
this world is just a game to you, and im not playing along
still i don't want to lose, so im caught between a nuse
im feeling lame, but i know i can move
i just reject the notion that i can't be what i choose
wish things would break loose. im losing anyway
your love has stopped me from jumping off a roof
cause i just can't stand feeling constantly aloof
the dentist wants some money just to pull a tooth
the county fair raised the prices at the kissing booth
i know that i caant float away cause your still in the fray
tooth and nail for every inch its why we still have a place
cant look myself in the face i could look at yours all day

ive learned to like the chemical taste
underneath my tongue when i slow down my brain
staying up so late just to dream in vain
staring at my own pink flesh, i want to rip out my viens
pull them out completely before a tumble down a hill
leaving behind a path to find for those who know the worlds unkind.
oh you caN SAVE YOUR ****ING LABELS FOR YOUR EMBELLISHMENTS
tO MAKE YOUR SELF FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOUR WORTHLESS ACCOMPLISHMENTS
IM IN THE KINDA MOOD TO MAKE SOME IDLE THREATS
**** WITH MY GIRL ILL CHAIN YOU IN MY BASEMENT
THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS THAT WHEN YOU STRAPPED TO THAT BED
THAT I WAS MEDICATED

KEEP YOU ****ING LABELS FOR YOUR OBJECTS
OBJECTIVELY I WAS ABLE, BUT NOT ON THE MEND
INSTEAD OF HELPING THEY MADE ME WISH THAT I WAS DEAD
SINCE THEN I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO PAY THE RENT
i FEEL LIKE MY SPARK HAS BEEN CONFISCATED
iM STILL DEDICATED

TO YOUR SUNS WARM Rotation

Here's a tune I used the Bi-Phase clone from Prophecysound Systems called the Pi-Phase, the Rhodes has it pretty heavily, very juicy sound...

I'd love to have either a bari sax or jazzy flute in the middle section.

It's missing a little conviction for me. I want to hear each word being "sold" to me. That's what separates a decent song that I enjoy from a fantastic performance I crave.

Maybe turn all the vocals up some more, but from what I can tell, you got off to a timid start but got more into it later. As far as confidence, just do you. Like you said (and I feel you all of the way), let your haters be motivators. Just let it go.

I once auditioned for a girl group (long time ago), and I was so nervous, I tensed up and couldn't sing worth a crap. After that, I never got nervous again. Make yourself keep singing and performing. At some point, the confidence will come and you'll sing even better...and practice practice and practice. Believe me, I take my own medicine. I practice now more than ever.

Good start with this track.

Looking for collaborators (vocalists/lyricists) to do an alternative hip-hop album. Here's a sample track. The volume is low, because it's not mastered, so you'll have to turn it up a bit. I don't sample existing works or use pre-packaged loops.
