How was "MONSTER MASH" recorded?

Does anyone have any ideas how the "Monster Mash" was recorded?

ANY ideas on signal chain, recording process, equipment used, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

you could email the man himself

bobbypickett@themonstermash.com

his official site
http://www.themonstermash.com/mmdex.html

Bobby's autobiography is for sale on the site- I don't know if it has the info on the recording "chain" (bwa ha ha ha)

Pickett is the only currently active artist to reach the top 100 three times with the same record.

I found this tidbit
Quote:
Bobby "Boris" Pickett added all his own sound sound effects to his 1962 hit, "The Monster Mash". The creaky door opening is a nail being pulled from a piece of wood, the boiling cauldron is Pickett blowing bubbles into a cup of water with a straw and the chains are him moving chains up and down.

There's almost no bass at all on my version of the song. I have Boris' Monster Mash.

Hes a very cool guy, and he sounds EXACTLY like the record.

The Beach Boys did a great version of that song on their "In Concert" live album (the one with them wearing black and white striped shirts on the cover). Great album - the version of I Get Around totally kills - and the Monster Mash is covered convincingly, with a great photo of Mike Love acting a monster-fool on stage during the song inside the gatefold.

Those are seriously second grade elementary school memories you're dredging up with this stuff!!!

Which came first.... the chicken or the egg // Joe Meek/Screaming LordSutch or the Monster Mash?

Screaming Lord Sutch's "Jack the Ripper" might as well be "Monster Mash."
Same changes, same BG vocals, etc...

The first time I ever heard Screaming Lord Sutch other than "Screaming Lord Sutch and His Heavy Friends" was his on a Joe Meek compilation where there are several "monster" style tunes by Joe Meek. Sutch's "Big Black Coffin" is pretty much the same deal, too.

Which were first?

Speaking of Screaming Lord Sutch....

Have you ever seen the "videos" of him on YouTube?

Interesting timeline JOEQ!
I was too lazy to research it myself.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but Screaming Lord Sutch's band The Savages were a pretty rockin' ass band!
They inspired quite a few Brit players.
Nicky Hopkins I believe played KYBDs.
Carlo on drums alone gave us Kieth Moon and I suspect some of Bonham.
That "bashin" Brit drum playing.... not much finesse.... just pound!
